Pocket Calendars

I learned to be a gatherer and: during the early '70s finding strong box I began to fill it with pocket calendars. It's those little rectangular cards that had advertising on one side, shy at that time. Much interest captured those advertising Adesgo stockings on an „appropriate” support.
Each year I added to the box without looking in particular for such. Sometimes I received from close acquaintances who knew of the existence of the box. The fact is that after about 35 years I gathered around ... 4 kg! I was aware of this hobby in the world, but had to find a collector in Romania to hand over to them the box. The surprise was to hear that a teacher in Piatra Neamt (!) collected calendars. The town is small and I quickly discovered that it was Maria Apetrei, professor of Natural Sciences, director of the Museum of Natural Sciences. I knew her family for many years. At the museum I learned that she had at home a stack of wall calendars, which increased through "donations" from colleagues. Unfortunately for me, she did not want pocket calendars, although I insisted about every six months for about two years.
A favorable moment arrived: at her retirement party I have suggested an exhibition of calendars that opened in December 2008 at the Museum of History, I was invited to join in, participating with three panels with pocket calendars.

This was the occasion when she agreed to take over my calendars, especially seeing me worried about their fate.
